Alana Sinkey shared the stage with Shakira |Nobalur

On November 24th Alana shared the stage with Shakira at the Davis Cup Finals event.

The singer and guitarist shared on her Instagram page some pictures and moments.

“Who was going to tell me that I would be on a stage with Shakira as a guitarist.

That’s how it was at @DavisCupFinals, yesterday in Madrid!

Very nice to participate in such a production, meet the choreographer @JaquelKnight and @CamiloMusica !!

Alana Sinkey is a Guinean singer, raised in Portugal, emigrated to Madrid when she was 17 years old.

Daughter of a musician , she started singing a solo and played guitar in small places around Madrid.

Currently she’s part of CosmoSoul. The band was born from the union of 5 gifted musicians from various cultures creating an original sound deeply rooted in Soul and R&B. These individuals, hailing from five different countries ( Italy , Nigeria , Guinea-Bissau , Argentina and Spain ), have come together, as if cosmically drawn to the cosmopolitan streets of Madrid, and have taken the city by storm.

Leila Samati is representing Guinea-Bissau at Miss World 2019 | Biography

Leila Samati was born on August 28, 1998 in Portugal, Algarve. Daughter of Bacar Samati and Cadi Turé Samati.

Although she born in Portugal, Leila is very attached to her roots and very proud to be Guinean. She is a fan of Guinean culture, gastronomy , and people. Leila characterised her people as a humble with a very good heart.

She currently lives in England, where she’s studying Adult Nursing at University of Bedford.

Her passion for fashion started since she was 3 years old. Leila participated in her first photo shoot and since then she started to work with various brands. At the age of 10, she joined the modeling agency GoModels, where she participated in several fashion shows.

In 2014, Leila Samati participated in a major fashion show for several famous designers, facing a large audience in the city of Portimão.

In 2017, she participated in the Miss Guinea-Bissau Portugal beauty contest, in which she was elected the 2nd Bridesmaid and Miss Communication 2017.

In 2018, she decided to re-enter the beauty contest, and was the first candidate to represent Guinea-Bissau at Miss Africa United Kingdom 2018, in which she was very proud to have won and been crowned Miss Africa United Kingdom 2018/19 and Miss Catwalk.

Leila Samati was supported by Miss Africa and went to Guinea-Bissau on a charity mission in June of the currently year in which she revealed to be one of her greatest and most exciting achievements because she managed to help 300 children in a school in Bissau, and one of her goals is being to help the development of children’s education.

During this visit, she offered school materials for each student at Afonso Bipta.

On the occasion, Leila also visit the Bambaram orphanage where she celebrated the International Children’s.

During her reign as Miss Africa Great Britain, Leila Samati participated in many events, she went to Spain as member of the judges of Miss Guinea Guinea Bissau Spain 2019, she was also One if the judges to starvision in the Miss Transgender 2019 contest.

Diaspora Fashion Show , 2019

Leila worked as (Modeling coach) Model Mentor at the Diaspora Africa Fashion Show, she worked with 25 young people between the ages of 5 and 25. She trained them for the fashion show and inspired them to enjoy their modeling career.

Leila Samati is now Queen’s 4 a reason ambassador to Miss Africa Great Britain and continues to inspire other young people.

Currently she has been officially selected by the TOP GB International and the Miss and mister Guinea-Bissau National Committee to represent Guinea-Bissau in the Miss World competition which is being held from 20 November to 14 December in England.

The coordinator and founder of the cultural group Netos de Bandim won the PAN-AFRICAN HUMANITARIAN AWARD

The coordinator and founder of the cultural group Netos de Bandim , Ector Diogenes Cassamá better known as Negado won the PAN-AFRICAN HUMANITARIAN AWARD in advocacy and cultural and community impact.

The prize was presented from 20-22 November in Qatar.

Recalling that GUINEA-BISSAU has won this Award 3 times in a row after Suzi Barbosa in 2017, Miguel de Barros in 2018.

Netos de Bandim was Founded by Ector Diogenes in 2000 , is a Cultural  Group,  a socio-cultural movement, with a conciliatory, creative and multiethnic orientation; a true artistic-cultural response of Guinean society to the construction of peace and the reconstruction of the country after violent and painful civil wars , a group of young artists its musicians and dancers were performing to animate the squares and streets of Bissau. For the “Netos”, music and dancing have always been something more than just entertainment is a hope for troubled youth in their neighborhood.

The group has already carried out a number of cultural actions to raise awareness and social mobilization in Guinea Bissau, focusing on the following topics: national, continental and world PEACE, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CDC), STD prevention , malaria and cholera. Its target audience are children and teenagers, offering cultural training (mainly local dances and music), social inclusion and socio-cultural development. The “Netos de Bandim”, which is formed by 90 members (37 men and 53 women).

The group has stood out in the carnival of the country and in several festivals in the African continent, winning many prizes and a well deserved recognition.

Braima Dabó receives fair play award from the International Athletics Federation

Braima Dabó won the fair play award on Saturday at the gala of World Athletics, the international athletics federation, after helping an opponent during the Doha World Cups.

Dabó, who studies at Bragança and represents the Maia Atlético, helped athlete Jonathan Busby of Aruba, a small Caribbean island, finish the 5,000 meters.

Although they were last and the Ethiopian Selemon Barega won ( 13.24,69 minutes), the two athletes received a huge recognition from the audience and all over the world.

At the World Athletics gala in Monaco, Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge was the male athlete for the second year in a row after winning the London Marathon with the third best mark in history and then dropping two hours on a private initiative, that doesn’t count as a record.

American Dalilah Muhammad was chosen as a female athlete in a year when she twice broke the world record of 400 meters hurdles, the last of which was in the World Cup final.

Binhan Quimor , Karyna Gomes and Yasmine nominated for AEAUSA 2019 | Vote Now

African Entertainment Awards, USA (AEAUSA)  has honored African’s excellence since 2015. Held annually in New Jersey, AEAUSA presents over 30 awards during the two-day event. And is the only award giving body to honor practitioners across all crafts and industry sectors, including Entertainment,  Enterprenuership and Community Leadership.

This year Binhan Quimor has been nominated for the Best Palop Male Artist .

Singer-songwriter Binhanquinhe Quimor, better known as Binhan, was born in 1977 in Guinea Bissau. He grew up in Catio, a town in southern Guinea Bissau. 

Binhan became a very popular artist in Guinea Bissau in 2008 with his refreshing songs of love and hope. His committed and realistic lyrics resonated with audiences far and wide. Some of his hit songs include Mariana and Tudo na passa. 

In 2007 he joined Super Mama Djombo, a popular Guinea-Bissauan band, as vocalist.

For the Best Palop Female Artist 2019 Karyna Gomes and Yasmine has been nominated.

Karyna Gomes is a singer and composer. Born to a Guinea-Bissau father and a Cape-Verde mother in the small city of Bissau, she grew up listening to traditional music, local urban rhythms, and sounds from all over the world. Her music is rooted in the courtyard gatherings typical of tropical societies, and was influenced by her life in three continents – Africa, Latin America and Europe. She started her career singing in the gospel group “Rejoicing Mass Choir” in São Paulo, Brazil, where she lived for five years. After returning to her country in 2007, Karyna was invited by Adriano Ferreira (Atchutchi) to sing in the historical and revolutionary group “Super Mama Djombo”. In 2014 she launched her first album “Mindjer” (Get!Records), which awarded her with two Best Singer prizes in Guinea-Bissau and got her selected for a showcase in the Atlantic Music Expo 2015, in Cape-Verde. Karyna currently lives in Lisbon, Portugal.
